The Concept
The initial idea for this site was to bring to light the places and objects we see everyday, and show how we can use these resources to push our creative work. The Urban Identity series is the beginning of that idea coming to fruition.
Urban areas are filled with incredible design resources. There are endless examples of exciting and beautiful line, form, color, pattern, and texture. My goal with this series is to find these things and deliver them to you. I will showcase different towns and cities in my area, supplying a steady stream of new content and inspiration. Some of the textures featured in this series may appear abstract and unconventional at first, but the fun part for all of you is to find creative ways to use them in your work.
Northampton, Massachusetts
This first collection showcases the town of Northampton, Massachusetts, an energetic and diverse town with a great arts and music community. These 20 textures come from a variety of different spots in the downtown area. Music venue windows, mailboxes, building walls, dumpsters, etc. offer great places to collect interesting textures and imagery.
