The Source Inspiration
The base images for these textures are some long-exposure fire photos I shot last week. I had never done long-exposure fire photos before, but I really loved the results. By shooting with a shutter speed between 1 and 2 seconds, the fire takes on a more smooth appearance. Here are a few samples of the original photos…
I was going to release those images as a set, but I have recently released a set of fire textures so I didn’t want to be too repetitive. Instead I did some experimenting and re-purposed them in this way. After some color correction and incorporating a few other subtle textures, I reached the aesthetic you see below.
